Resentment is a word I really did not understand or try to understand until about 12 years ago. It was best explained to me that as we go through life, we all have resentments. If we are pretty healthy emotionally, we may have one here, one there and just like collecting seashells while we walk the shoreline, picking up a shell or two and putting them in your pocket will not weigh you down. They are not heavy enough to pull us down. However, when we keep collecting shells, (the resentments) they become heavy, as we keep walking and we keep collecting, they become heavier and heavier. If we can’t throw them back to the sea and release them, they will weigh us down. As the waves come in and life happens, we will be so weighted down with shells that soon we will find ourselves drowning in our sea of resentments. What resentments can you release? We have to ask ourself, is it really worth it. The person holding the resentments is the only one drowning. The other person is happily playing on the beach called life. It’s truly like one drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Today is a new day, sort your resentments out and decide which ones you can release. Love yourself!
